Vicious Rumors - Razorback Killers
That’s exactly what I call an AWESOME release! Vicious Rumors are back from the dead with an album that’s far from any expectation! I don’t know what’s going on with the “old guard” lately but I think that they have conspired to blow our brains! “Razorback Killers” is simply their best release in the last 20 years since their last masterpiece was, in my opinion, “Welcome To The Ball” (1991) while after Carl Albert’s death in 1995 the band managed to release some average though slightly indifferent albums.
\r\nThe title “Razorback Killers” describes perfectly the compositions of this album. Razorblade sharp riffing and fiery solos just like the balls on the cover artwork. Nothing less, nothing more. U.S. Power Metal of the finest kind along with some thrash influences that is sure to kick some ass! The opener “Murderball” has an unbelievable riff while the new singer Brian Allen sings his guts out sounding like Ripper Owens in some parts, which is just fine by me. “Black” and “Razorback Blade” are equally devastating while the lead guitar on “All I Want Is You” brought to my mind the mighty Crimson Glory.
\r\n As top moments of this album I could hardly pick up the thrashy “Bloodstained Sunday” and the absolute live track “Let The Garden Burn” since there are no fillers here.
\r\nVicious Rumors are back to shut the mouths of all those doomsayers who want the “old guard” retired and unarmed, and that’s exactly what they do with this release. I am sure that Carl will be smiling up there seeing his old band mates continuing what they started. As they state on “Bloodstained Sunday”: “On this day we move ahead, honoring your life and death.”
