Ross The Boss - New World Leader
\r\nHow could a guest act - jam, become a band, a new beginning or even better, a powerful comeback, for one of the most gifted and respected guitarists in the Epic Metal are(n)a. To be more specific, everything begun at the "Keep It True" festival where Ross The Boss teamed up with Ivory Knight from Germany. Since then and after a tour, they decided to join forces and
\r\n"New Metal Leader" was born...The legacy is heavy for the ex-member and co-founder of the legendary Manowar, but who else could be more appropriate to handle it, than this man himself??
\r\nSo here we have a release full of what we could expect, which is nothing less than pure Heavy Epic Metal to the standards Manowar and Ross set many many years ago! Even the sound(produced by Tarek Maghary(Majesty) and mixed/mastered by Achim Kohler (who has cooperated with Sinner and Primal Fear) and the closing of the songs remind us them. The singer, Patrick Fuchs, who also runs a cover band called “Men Of War” (needless to say to whom they pay tribute to), seems to have studied Eric’s way. His vocals fit perfect in the mood "The Boss" wants to create and in my opinion is the proper one to "do the job». The melodic vocal lines are an advantage, the guitars serve their purpose without exaggerating and although the band is named by the guitarist’s name, it seems to work like a band and not like a solo project. This release includes powerful songs such as "Blood Of Knives"-"Death & Glory», «rocking"(what a surprise to my ears) songs such as "Plague Of Lies», «May The Gods Be With You" and of course epic such as "We Will Kill», and "I.L.H." which is the intro of what will follow. At this point I would like to mention a song called "I Got The Right" which gets us back to the "Hail to England" masterpiece. Last but not least, the catchy melodies and "guitar-riffing" job made at "Matador" and of course the most epic song and epilogue of this cd, called "Immortal Son»! Especially the last one seems to have escaped from the glorious days of Epic Metal and all this "battle feeling".In conclusion I have to admit that: Yes, this is a "cliche" release. Yes, this is a release from the past with nothing new to offer. BUT (there has to be a but) "Cliche" is a word that isn’t necessary negative (here we deal with such an example) and of course there is nobody more adequate to make us travel through time, to the glorious past, with such a pure approach than Ross. Let others innovate, «The Boss" still has it and can deliver it! So Manowar fans
\r\n(old and new) don’t hesitate, you will find something interesting for sure!
