INACTIVE MESSIAH - Sinful Nation
Inactive Messiah - Sinful Nation
\r\nI never had great relationships with the music of Inactive Messiah. There were some songs that I liked through their last album Be My Drug but that’s all. It need to be mentioned that the band in recent time, had made great steps of improvement and specifically at this moment they hit the roads with Vader, Devian and Septic Flesh. Their new album that releases again on behalf of Holy Records is named Sinful Nation and I do not hide that I liked it more from the previous one. However once again I cannot say that Inactive Messiah are my new beloved band. There are certain tracks that are really appreciable, but there exist also some that appeared to me incurious, because of their structure and in more general their mentality did not touch me. Sinful Nation is the continuity of Be My Drug that everything is as we waited for, with the difference that here the group has more experience and does not have made any mistakes. In a few words the album is more mature. Important role in the quality of the album, plays also the attendance of Christos Antoniou (Septic Flesh, Chaostar), as this person is in charge for the symphonic and chorus parts, while we must say that the band has used members from the chorus of ERT. The music of Inactive Messiah therefore is a strange mixing of Atmospheric sound with many Death Metal passages and with some Black points. Personally this is what I like as bands that do not have specific form, they present always interesting work. Their music is based on heavy rhythmic riffs and there are not few the times where the group becomes a groove one. Apart from them, there are many well-structured lead points which makes the songs prettier, thanks to the beautiful melodies as also the same happens with solos that are structured so as not to exaggerate and make you feel tired. \r\n

\r\nThe atmosphere album is also very beautiful that the symphonic passages help for this, while vocals are exclusive brutal but precisely into the climate of the album. Sinful Nation is a theatrical album and this appears in all of its duration. Good or bad there are not many bands in Greece that would create something theatrical and at the same time extreme and for this somebody must deal with the band. In this point we must mention that the production of the album has be done by Fotis Benardo (Ex- Nightrage, Septic Flesh, Necromantia) in Devasoundz Studios in Athens. Personally I did not find something bad in this and I believe that in general speaking it is very appreciable and in particular is precisely what a band like Inactive Messiah, really needs. These are the positive elements of the album. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nIn the negative ones (and always speaking in personal level) what I did not like is that certain riffs give us the impression that they are repeated in each track, something that makes certain songs monotonous and foreseeable and also a lot of points in album are familiar to us and we have many times heard them from other groups. With this I do not mean that Inactive Messiah copies, but there is no originality in what we hear. As you see however the negatives they less than the positive and if we take into consideration that Inactive Messiah are one devotional band that is seeking continuously for new things and dedicates time and money in something that it likes and finally the result is appreciable, then they deserve our support in each of their effort. \r\n
