Stormwarrior - Heading Northe
Germany’s Stormwarrior return with their third full length effort, entitled “Heading Northe” and is the continuing of “Northern Rage” (2004). From the foundation of the band, back in 1998 until today, Stormwarrior have many releases (in general: 4 E.P, 3 studio albums and 1 live album). For those that have not listened any release of the band, I d like to comment that the fisrt two albums of Stormwarrior, have been produced by Kai Hansen, and their influences is the German power metal scene of the 80’s and especially Helloween and Running Wild.
\r\n“Heading Northe” features eleven tracks of solid speed / power metal with some more epic, references in Northern Europe’s mythology. The Running Wild and Helloween influences are obvious once again, and the vocals by Thunder Axe (Lars Ramcke) remind us of Kai Hansen’s early releases with Helloween. Many melodic riffs cutting like razorblades, very nice rhythm guitar playing and many polyphonic choruses that give the release a very epic feeling. The most of the tracks are up tempo but also a couple of mid tempo songs exist. The recording took place in band’s “Thunderhall Studios” and have been produced by Piet Sielck and mastered by Tommy Hansen.
\r\nConcluding, the new Stormwarrior release will totally please their old fans, also the fans of classic heavy metal. There are still some people that can pronounce the words “Heavy” and “Metal” together, without the fear of being characterized as “cliché” by the others, so this release is for them.
