KOTIPELTO - Serenity
\r\nWhen, 13 years ago, Timo Tolkki decided to include Timo Kotipelto in his band as the voice of his compositions, surely he must’ve felt satisfaction and immense joy with his decision. And how could there not be emotions when placing somebody with a such a unique and beautiful voice in the position of the lead singer! As a result, from the album "Fourth Dimension" and afterwards Kotipelto’s voice literally "decorates" the songs of Stratovarius. But in the last few years, Timo started feeling the need for something a bit more personal, something to escape from the frames of the former group. In 2002, he decides to create his own band, thus beginning his solo career simultaneously, and introduces us to his debut album "Waiting For The Dawn", a good enough album in my opinion. In 2004, follows the album "Coldness" and Timo makes his appearance again in 2007 with his third studio album named "Serenity". The first thing that intrigued me, to be honest, was the cover.. It’s theme in combination with the vivid colous bring forth a positive feeling for the content of the album. Regarding the musical part, the ten tracks that consist his new album, generally stand in heavy/power lines with a few hard rock alternations. The keyboards accompany each song in a different manner, making the album more melodic and atmospheric while once again Kotipelto succeeds to leave you with a powerful impression litteraly carrying you away, thus accomplishing to leave you with a content feeling at the end of the album. In general lines, I would have to say that "Serenity" is an interesting release, though not characterized as something unique... The choice is yours. \r\n
