Above Symmetry - Ripples (re-issue)

\r\n The beginning was pretty adventurous for this Norwegian prog metal band, which had to change its initial name “Apera” to “Above Symmetry”, just about a year after the release of the debut album. InsideOut reissues “Ripples” under the new band’s name on the cover.
\r\nSo, if you aren’t familiar with the band yet, now it’s a good chance to check it out, especially if Prog Metal appeals to you. Above Symmetry can be described as a melodic Progressive Metal band, with intense influences from Dream Theater, Symphony X and Pain of Salvation. Perplexing guitars, strong atmosphere, complicated structure, melodic, stimulating vocals, are the main elements of their style. Needless to say how much solid and well-structured their music is; after all, when you come from this music field, being “over-qualified” is for granted. Their ideas are very clever and they really seem to be in mood for work! On the other hand, these influences of theirs are pretty obvious on some spots; hopefully this will change in the future.
\r\n“Ripples” is an album to listen over and over again. I hope for a bright future, even better than the impressive debut of the band.
