Agathodaimon - PHOENIX

\r\nThat ‘s the fifth album for the Germans Agathodaimon after a long time absence from the music scene. The band still plays in the same style, by combining the atmospheric elements of Dimmu Borgir with the heavy guitars of Satyricon. The addition of keys and effects in combination with the rough riffing create an epic mood while the vocals refer to the “hellish” performing style of Cradle of Filth and Children of Bodom, even though this kind of more modern style that they are trying to present by using clean vocals too, is not the best possible choice on behalf of them in my opinion. Their style is not something new on one hand, but it’s their musical id since basically they follow this direction from the beginning.
\r\n For those who follow the group since their first steps and they like their first albums, this one will definitely satisfy them. As for the rest of the fans of this genre, I think that it’s a must have album for their collection. The limited edition of the cd contains two bonuses. It’s the song “Alone in The dark” in two versions, one with Ashtrael and Sathonys on vocals, and the other one is the soundtrack version of the s/t made in Hollywood movie, with Ruth "Ophelia" Knepel, who has sung in “Solitude” from their previous album. \r\n
