Amorphis - The Beginning Of Times

\r\nIt tends to be something like a tradition for Amorphis to release stunning albums in a row, something like Iron Maiden back in the 80’s! “Beginning Of Times” is continuing the legacy of the exceptional “Skyforger” that was released 2 years ago. The results are equally amazing and I would dare to say that Amorphis have managed to create their own unique sound, so I wouldn’t have been an exaggeration to label their music “Amorphis Metal” since I thing that the term “melodic death metal” is restraining for such a band.
\r\nMusically as I mentioned before, the new album is following the steps of its predecessor with songs that will blow your mind not only with its wonderfully structured melodic songs but also with Tomi Joutsen’s hypnotizing singing. Some folk elements are more than obvious once again during the whole album while the compositions themselves sound a bit more aggressive when compared to these on “Skyforger”. “Battle of Light”, the opening track drags you to the mystical world of Kalevala while the stunning “Mermaid” that follows is simply one of the best track ever composed by the band! Equally spectacular is the semi-ballad “You I Need” which is also the band’s official video.
\r\nI won’t tell more, those familiar with the band from their latest albums they simply know what to expect, as for the others, just listen to the monumental “Silent Waters” and if it’s to your liking….eventually you’ll get this one.
