ANCESTRAL - The Ancient Curse

Another Italian band released their debut during 2007, their name is Ancestral and the title of the Album “The Ancient Curse” and thankfully for them, they do not follow the Power Symphonic Metal scene that the last years, many Italian bands follow.
\r\n“The Ancient Curse” is an album deeply inspired by the first Blind Guardian albums, something that is obvious even from the first couple of songs; another influence of the band is Domine, Italians also. In this effort the listeners can find some nice, melodic parts, and many chorus vocals with choruses inspired by Blind Guardian, as we previously said. The lyrical themes, belong to the Epic genre with references also in Ancient Greece’s mythology, “Achille’s Fury (in Hector’s death)”, a tale that Ancestral seem to know well.
\r\nIn General this first effort of Ancestral will be more appreciated by the fans of European Power metal scene and the album can easily be listened. The only weak point for me is the production, but this CD is really very good release especially the Beatles’  “Eleanor Rigby” cover.
