ARSIS - Starve For The Devil

ARSIS - Starve For The Devil

\r\nFierce and complex melodies that seem to grab you by the neck to drive you over the building tops and then suddenly through you to the ground on an outburst of speed, rage and power, this is how I would describe the new ARSIS album, Starve For The Devil. The blend of speed, technical parts, blast beats and melodies so well entwined into a unique result. I have to admit I am quite difficult to please when it comes to technical death metal. However, the drummer Mike Van Dyne is like fierce like a hammer without loosing his outstanding speed. Guitars are both imaginative and skilful, so what more could one wish for?

\r\nThe way Starve For The Devil is established is such, that not only does it make sense, it also has many catchy riffs blended into it. This is an album no friend of extreme metal should ignore, and by extreme I include the fans of thrash metal as I feel it is a very interesting album for a thrasher as well.

\r\nDuring the past two years ARSIS have had some line up changes. While 2008 marked the release of the ARSIS Nuclear Blast debut, it also marked the departure of Darren Cesca, Ryan Knight and Noah Martin for various reasons. Leaving only James Malone to rebuild ARSIS. Enter Nicholas Cordle, a long-time acquaintance of Malone’s who was originally hired to replace Noah Martin on bass duties for a tour. Cordle, a graduate of the University of Virginia and guitar prodigy did wonders to help motivate James Malone continue with ARSIS. When Ryan Knight left ARSIS  to join THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Cordle switched from playing bass in ARSIS to playing guitar and began working with James on the material that would become "Starve for the Devil“. A few months later, original drummer Mike Van Dyne agreed to re-join the band and ARSIS was almost complete again.

\r\nIn August 2009, just prior to entering Planet-Z studios once again, a long time friend of Cordle’s was asked to audition for the vacant bass position. The bassists name is Nathaniel Carter, and he impressed the band and producer Zuess so much that he has now become a permanent member of ARSIS.

\r\nThe result is a great album which is out not through Nuclear Blast. \r\n
