Baskiria - Onogur

Baskiria - Onogur

\r\nBaskíria was born in 1999 in Budapest, Hungary by two former members of a grind core band, called Crucifixation. After many lineup changes and two demos they managed to release in 2008 their first full length album "Onogur". The band plays vicious, yet melodic black metal with plenty of faster, blast beat laden sections mixed in with mid-paced and slower melodic pieces and harsh and deep vocals. The music is really aggressive at times mostly due to the slight grindcore-like drumming. The songs yet although they try to keep a certain variation even within them, most of the times they use the same musical carpet so in the end you have the impression that you keep listening to the same song over and over again. Espaecially some pieces follow the exact same formula. Aggression, slow/acoustic passage, aggression. Thus it’s up to the riffs to make the difference and though at some points they possess a slight Marduk-esque feeling to them and at others the watered down thrash vibe of Dark Throne most of the times they lack the catchiness or the effectiveness to be distinguished plus the fact that the guitars seem at some moments somehow buried below the vocals and the pounding drums. The only exception is the track "Veres Nyomunk A Hold Sugaran" which really stands a little higher than all the rest of the album.
\r\nI don’t say of course that I didn’t like this album at all. It’s just good aggressive stuff that can really train your neck but nothing more. \r\n
