BULLET - Bite The Bullet
BULLET - Bite The Bullet
Bullet is a group which comes from Sweden and this is their second release, after 2006 debut "Heading For The Top". Their main purpose of this release is, (as they say in the track "Rock n’ Roll Remedy") to rock this town and believe me, they know how to do it, damn right. As soon as you listen to the first riffs, the clock stops and the time machine gets you, to the glorious past of groups like : Judas Priest, Ac/Dc, Exciter and a little bit of Iron Maiden and Saxon (musically speaking). Nothing innovative, great pure 80s atmosphere and mood, though. The mixing process was done by Nicke Andersson and Stefan Boman at Park Studios and the mastering by Henrik Jonsson at Masters Of Audio. I am mentioning those because we are dealing with an amazing 80s like, "Vintage" production and sound, which is another benefit of this album. The compositions are deeply influenced by the previous mentioned groups and they are simple, straight 4/4 counting ones. Another thing one notices, is the vocalist, who belongs to the B. Johnson meet R. Halford school, using high pitched hellish vocals (or should I say screams), which in my opinion, get tiring at a point. Despite clische they are, the songs are above average but similar between them, with good melodies and solos. Highlights would be the first one, "Pay The Price" which strikes you as an unexpected thunder, "Bite The Bullet" a Priest-ish one, which will be a great song for gigs, "Dusk Till Dawn" a groovy track with a catchy chorus and hard rockin’ guitars and "Nailed To The Ground", an up tempo composition with guts, attitude, great vocal lines and Maiden-like double guitars. As a conclusion, I would recommend "Bite The Bullet" to every classic metalhead, whose heroes are bands from previous decades, back to the Heavy Metal’s roots. New listeners should first listen to 70s-80s heavy metal in order to comprehend Bullet’s music. I am curious about, what the public would say, if this album would have been released two decades before!
