DAWN OF DESTINY - ...Begins
\r\nFor many of you this debut from the Germany-based band Dawn Of Destiny will surely be a pleasant surprise. With a woman by the name Tanja Maul being in the front line Dawn Of Destiny’s music can be described as symphonic power metal in the vein of Nightwish and Operatika or Edenbridge but what separates them from the ones mentioned is the fact that Dawn Of Destiny can get faster, harder and even more aggressive. The guitar lines were what personally drew my attention to their music in the first place. Of course there are lots of melodic interludes and acoustic passages but the main part of the sound is in an up speed tempo with many fast driven riffs, some strong double bass parts and plenty of more than interesting hooklines and rhythm breaks, even getting thrashy at times, while I distinguished also some background eastern influences beneath the catchy, prominent riffage. And what makes their identity even more personal is the male vocals that besides some clean interpositions they also become harsh and with death metal grunts, a fact that earned my fully reception since they are randomly scattered in the compositions and in moments when they are perfectly fitted. Coming to the female of the band, her voice is really beautiful with a very skillful throat, often with an opera-like style, emotional and incisive and with an aerial substance. General, "...Begins" is a very interesting, well formed, symphonic power metal effort to a slight bombastic atmosphere outcome mostly due to the keyboards that keep a second backing role in the majority of the album. A truly impressive debut that permits many high hopes for the future of the band. \r\n
