\r\nAfter the boring, and moderated producted, Nightly Ray album in 2006, Emergency \r\nGate are back, after three years, with Rewake. Their new album is overall \r\nbetter. The compositions are more aggressive with some metalcore elements here \r\nand there, more melodic, faster paced and also there is use of double bass. In \r\naddition, the vocals of Matthias Kupka are harsher and more aggressive than \r\nFabian "Cem" Kiessling’s. Additionally the production of the album is better. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nHowever, this is one more average album, full of drawbacks. The three \r\nmain ones are that there is no originality, once again, nothing fresh and quite \r\nstereotype, that a quarter of the disc consists of songs under four minutes, a \r\nsign indicating the lack of creativity, and the misuse of keys. While at various \r\npoints during the songs the keys give additional depth and feeling, however, the \r\nuse of them is limited. Emphasising, I would like to add that the band has two \r\nkey keyboardists, one for the "synth job" and the other for the "keys job", but \r\noverall the album does not seem particularly both.
\r\n
\r\nIn conclusion, \r\nwaiting three years and the substitute of two members were in vain, for once \r\nmore we have a mediocre album. The Germans must extensively think and change \r\ntheir aspect towards their compositions if they want to become greater and have \r\nmore fans.\r\n
