Ereb Altor - The End

Ereb Altor - The End

Viking Metal is a very important and unique metal genre that since it lost it’s father has been a victim of all of them that wanted to enrich it with new folklore elements leaving it to the vultures (AKA Record labels) that put under the sign of “Viking Metal” every shitty band, instead of throw the whole band to the thrash can.
\r\nWell I might sound a little bit narrow minded or something but do not except nothing less from someone that still has Quorthon’s picture upon his wall.
\r\nBut let’s talk about music and the second album of the Swedish outfit, Ereb Altor that two years ago provided us with their masterpiece debut that really gave us a kick in the crotch. So the successor of “By Honour”, entitled “The End” is already out there. Another fact is that the band already changed records label and singed to the Austrian label Napalm something that was expectable since the other band of the members of Ereb Altor, Isole is on the same label also.
\r\nTo be honest this is what I have been excepting to listen from Ereb Altor, the same epic Viking Metal since their demo days, down tempo with many vocal layers and this cold, freezing atmosphere that comes right from their homeland and their appreciation to Quorthon and his “Epic Trilogy” (“Hammerheart”, “Twilight of the Gods”, “Blood On Ice”).
\r\nAll of us that had the pleasure to attend the band live we felt on stage that this music comes right from the soul of the Ereb Altor guys, and they have no need to enrich their music with other “folklore” instruments, only the classic heavy metal set, plus an acoustic guitar and maybe some keyboards in the distant background something that is audible on “The End”
\r\nI consider this album as great as their debut album that left many of us speechless. Go buy it now…
