Escalation - The Shine

\r\nThis is another Demo Cd from a Greek band. Well they are not exactly a band. This is a two man project. All music was written by Kimon and Takis. Besides Kimon’s guitars and Takis’s vocals all instruments were programmed. To be honest they made a pretty descent sound and if I didn’t read the bands bio I’d think them as a proper band.
\r\nThey recorded 5 songs for the bands first demo CD called "The Shine". They are in search for musicians to form a complete band and they should.  They are good enough to try a full length release. Their music is a constant balance between heavy power and progressive metal. You ll hear sounds from Nevermore, Mystic Prophecy, Masterplan, Symphony X and of course some classic heavy parts. I would call them prog power metal. They managed to have a fresh sound and there were times even Jorn’s albums came in my mind. Refrains need to be a little more memorable and in long songs such as ‘’Last Sunrise’’ they must be carefull with the orchestration. Personally I was lost with this one. Personal favorite is ‘’Breaking’’. It’s short with great vocals and a nice refrain. It doesn’t re-invent metal but that’s a hard job to do.  Last I’ll give my credits to the singer. He did a nice job both technically and in the vocal melodies. In ‘’Transparent Walls’’ it reminded me Bruce’s solo cd’s. You don’t have anything to lose. Check ‘em out at their MySpace page.\r\n
