Furor Gallico - Furor Gallico

Furor Gallico - Furor Gallico

Furor Gallico is a very promising act! After listening to their self titled debut album I ended up concluding that music knows neither boundaries nor nationality. But let me explain the reason that triggered that thought. By listening to the album with the impressive celtic melodies emerging from a death metal background I thought that this is about another English or Scandinavian band. So imagine my surprise when I found out that Furor Gallico are Italians and they play “Pagan Metal” at its best!
\r\nFuror Gallico are singing about the era of the Roman empire, praising the epic battles of the Celts against the almighty Romans (pretty strange considering their ethnicity!)
\r\nTheir compositions are very well worked while the melodies tend to carry you away to another space and time. The guitar work is very impressive though they sound a bit high pitched, probably on purpose. The vocals vary from clean to death metal growls along with some unnecessary Black metal shrieks in some parts. The strongest point of the album are the breathtaking folk melodies that overflow the whole album, reminding me bands like Skyclad, Cruachan and Mithotyn. The sound of violin mixed with the flute and the guitars is creating a captivating, vintage atmospheric album.
\r\nSo if you are missing the glorious days of the above mentioned bands (I surely do..) give a chance to Furor Gallico, it’s worth your while.
