Grand Design - Time Elevation

Grand Design - Time Elevation

\r\nOnce, a professor (and also a very good friend) told me something very important, something I still remember, ‘music has nothing more to give to humanity, because in this field everything has already been played’. For years, I was puzzled by this statement and I was wondering quite often: ‘what’s gonna happen tomorrow?’ is that all?’ .
\r\nIndeed, by thinking of this I grew the conclusion that no matter how many elements you put in your music, controversial or not, the essence remains the same, so whatever you do will eventually lose its impact.
\r\nToday all these ideas  have changed, whereas I understand that the meaning is not about the knowledge that someone has concerning that music ,it’s all about the way someone composes, the placing of every little note in the right place. Some call this “feeling”. Unfortunately this simple rule is familiar to few bands and luckily the Swedish ‘Grand Design’ is one of them. With their debut-album ‘Time Elevation’ they prove that the whole idea about creating music is not the rules and the scores but the guitar as an extension of your own self.
\r\nSome editors claim that this band is influenced by ‘Def Leppard’ and especially by ‘Pyromania’, ‘Hysteria’ and ‘Andrenalize’ albums. I agree with them, but I believe that this doesn’t really matter, because if this album was written by Def Leppard and it would instantly become a classic. Well it’s a classic for me even if it’s not written by ‘Def Leppard’.
\r\nAs for the production, it sound like straight out of the 80’s and 90’s. The man behind the sound is Pelle Saether who is also a founding member and the singer. As for his voice I think he sounds pretty cool reminding me of a mix of Joe Elliott(Def Leppard) and Biff Byford. I won’t comment on the guitar riffs, because it’s very simple, when it comes to this the guitarist is excellent and especially Ledin and Vestman left me speechless.
\r\nDrum and bass section is balanced and tied up and if I add to all these the melodic choruses it’s easy to understand why this band will be stuck in my stereo for a very long time
\r\nThe result is that these guys made me listen to their music over and over again something that I don’t think happens all the time. Finally I think that few people could resist in this album. Highly recommended! \r\n
