Haunted (The) - Versus

\r\nThere are times that you wonder what went wrong, what went bad and everything comes out uneasy. That’s exactly how I felt when I listened to the new album of the gods The Haunted and a huge WHY came out of my mouth. I longed for this record and I was sure that I was going to listen to something many levels better than the previous (and disappointing as far as I am concerned) The Dead Eye, from a very favorite band of mine and also one that I was lucky enough to meet at its birth. Sound is ok and the record starts with great power, but this really is not enough when you have created masterpieces at the beginning of your career already. But now let’s get to the album. A strong start, as I mentioned before, powerful guitars and tight rhythm section (nobody can dispute the band’s skills), but despite all this, from the very first tracks you are given the impression that you have to do with something very typical and mediocre. Finally, it is really stronger and better than their previous work, but it still is not convincing. Are they tired? Should they wait more before releasing a new album? I don’t know. What I see though, is that the album gets me tired at its middle, something really weird for a The Haunted album, who have always avoided any kind of cliche and have always sounded fresh. There still are some good riffs that keep the spirit alive and Peter Dolving seems to be in really good shape ( he seems to be deep into hardcore). I don’t think I can say much more. The good The Haunted are still in there, but really deep inside. I ‘ll be waiting. They can do better. I know. I was there from the start and I know….. \r\n
