Heathen - The Evolution Of Chaos

\r\nThe long awaited (referring to the fans and some serious Thrashers out there)Heathen’s reunion album is finally in my hands! Some of the Bay area Thrash fans out there might remember a band from California which reminded of Metallica (soundlike, because technically and musically Heathen were way better) that with 2 albums, the amazing “Breaking The Silence” (1987) and the awesome “Victims Of Deception” (1991) managed to snap many necks and shut even more mouths (including mine of course)
\r\nAfter a long wait Heathen strike back with an exceptional album and that’s a fact. “Evolution Of Chaos” is a fine example of how Bay area Thrash metal should be played nowadays. This one Kicks some real ass! I really don’t know what to comment on first. On the bombastic opening track called “Dying Season”? on the 11 minute epic “No Stone Unturned” with the amazing melodic break in the middle of the song? On the unbelievable leads of the exceptional Lee Altus? On Dave White’s voice that, though not that melodic as it used to be on “Victims Of Deception” (it’s been almost 20years since then, the man isn’t DIO!) still carries the melody and the feeling of times past, giving the compositions a more brutal sound? On the participations of Steve DiGiorgio and Gary Holt? On the powerful production? Even the cover artwork is fucking great! There are no mediocre compositions here, no fillers. Heathen never had such issues before. Every track is there to blow you away!! Just like that. Personally I’m still trying to pick my brains from the floor, mumbling “what the hell was that?”
\r\nVerdict: Heathen returned with an album that most of their “Famous” countrymen would kill their mothers with no second thought in order to have created it themselves. The fans of Heathen will surely get this one (that’s a fact!). Those of you who are into good old Thrash metal of the first degree do yourself a favor and…GET IT NOW!!
