The Dutch band, Heidvolk returns with their second album, three years after their debut “De Strijdlust is Geboren”, In the new effort, entitled “Walhalla Wacht” (Valhalla Awaits), Heidvolk continue their classic war / epic Folklore metal, that provided us from their first album.
\r\nThe First difference in comparison with the debut album is that the songs are more up tempo, and the quality of the compositions is improved a lot.
\r\nFor those who do not know the music of Heidvolk, I can describe it as a mixture of Skyclad, Waylander, Bathory, with a pinch of Pazuzu (“Awaken The Dragon” Era) and some Running Wild elements, mostly on “Hey” choruses. In “Walhalla Wacht”album you can also find some blast beat elements, as well as, some black metal chords. Although this description sounds too complicated, in fact it fits perfectly hence gives the album a sensation of difference and makes this effort able to be listened from fans almost from all metal sub genres. Some additional instruments in this release is the violin that plays a great “question answer” solo on “Koning Radboud” along with the guitars. Also there is the presence of the classic, horn
\r\nUnfortunately, due too the constant voice over, I managed to listen only three full songs, but the album seems to be in the same quality level.
\r\nSo, take a couple fellow warriors with you, grab your swords and weapons, take a huge amount of ale, light a fire in the woods, and drink wile listening the album.
