HUNTED - Welcome The Dead

HUNTED - Welcome The Dead

\r\n
\r\nBeing a progressive metal with an old school metal attitude is kinda odd; yet, that’s exactly what the music of the British band Hunted is all about; there are several rhythmical styles and music themes changing all the time, and their music has many technical parts as well, yet overall it’s old school. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe compositions are based on a strange mixture of influences and ideas, which are not combined that well with each other. Think of a mixture of Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Merciful Fate, yet with not such a good result. The vocals reminded me of Wade Black on the Astronomica album, being intense, emotional and expressive, yet that alone is not enough to save the day. Perhaps, with a better production and modernization, this band will make better albums in the future. Had the album “Welcome the dead” been released years ago, it would be fair to put it on the same level with other releases of this genre.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe last song of the album is Heart Collector (Nevermore); this song is so beautiful that in the worst case it sounds alright when covered by other bands, especially when the cover song is so similar to the original version.  \r\n
