Ichor - Benthic Horizon

Ichor - Benthic Horizon

\r\n The guys from Ichor finally made it to Siege of Amida records, thus making their debut’s search an easier task(talking about much better distribution!). This album was released about a year ago in the first place so whoever is a hunter for this kind of material know what this is about. Modern death metal(something SOA recs deals with a lot) with lots of brutal elements as well as some old shcool sparks. Who’s bothered? Not me, I dig!

\r\n What’s good with these guys is that they don’t get lost in this tech-poser thingy but make sure they deliver remarkable signs of composition and songwriting. Unlike acts like Job For a Cowboy or Trigger The Bloodshed that are a lot more pluralistic. Sure, they are triggered too but those Morbid Angel influences have kicked in really well and the album stands out with its quality and the passion flowing through it. Another thing I loved is they did not hesitate to get a brutal logo and cover art by the scene guru, Toshihiro Egawa, which indicates their true love for the underground.

\r\n From there on, if you’re into brutal death metal with a slightly more modern approach to it you’ll like "Benthic Horizon". Skull crashing songs, maniacal riffing(their slower parts destroy!), flawless skills and superb gutturals make this a must have extreme release for 2011. Fans of the genre know that you don’t have to "big" in order for someone to invest on you. The undeground is ritch in talented musicians and albums like this one are proof of that. In my opinion you should definitely invest on it, especially now that Morbid Angel forgot how the game is played...\r\n
