Illdisposed - The Prestige

Illdisposed - The Prestige

\r\nLet’s Fucking GO!!! At last,\r\nthe long awaited latest release of the Danish band, Illdisposed is here."The Prestige" is\r\ntheir ninth in row full album, (Retro included, which consists only of cover\r\nsongs). I’ll be honest set things\r\nstraight from the start by telling you that I have a rather intense\r\nrelationship with this band hence I’ve been through a lot, good and bad,\r\nlistening to their music. Besides that tough, I\r\nbelieve that Illdisposed are for sure one of the 3 best Danish bands and also\r\none of the most professional bands in general. They might not be well known in\r\nGreece, abroad though things(as usual) are different. After a week of listening to\r\nthe album, I can surely say that "Prestige" is one of the best albums\r\nthese guys have released, as odd and over the top that may sound. As the years\r\npass by, they who follow the work of Illdisposed can tell that the band is\r\ngetting even better and more "mature". Therefore, in 2008 we reach a\r\ncertain level where the band, for many reasons,  has never reached before and\r\npersonally, I hope they remain there and why not, even higher.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nLet’s see though what this\r\nalbum’s about. For starters we should say that it consists of 12 tracks. The\r\nfirst song is called "Let Go" and personally I believe there couldn’t\r\nbe a better beginning for an Illdisposed album. The groovy mid-tempo riffs\r\nmake their appearance resulting as something amazing and unique while the cherry\r\non the top is Bo Summer’s voice, where there is no reason to blabber since the\r\nthree words he says (Let’s Fuckings Go) say it all! So now that we’re in the\r\nright mood of the album, 11 diamonds follow, with the stamp of Illdisposed all\r\nover them. First thing that came to\r\nmind while listening to this album was that "Prestige" is a mix of\r\n"1-800 Vindication" and "There’s Something Rotten In The State\r\nOf Denmark".  This, of course, doesn’t\r\nmean that the band just recycled clues of those 2 albums and did nothing new.\r\nIt would be unfair not mentioning that the compositions we find here, besides\r\nthe groovy passages and the storm blasts, include something clearly technical\r\nwhich until this day had nothing to do with the music of these guys. And by saying technical, of\r\ncourse we don’t mean anything complexed or something that’s plain tiring, but a\r\nfew compositions aren’t as "easy" to listen to and require a little\r\nextra attention. As always, in the\r\n"rhythmic" roar they offer us, there are also many melodic breaks, created either from rhythmic\r\nriffs, either lead parts, either a solo. That, though, which is most\r\ndistinctive are the heavy riffs that are perfect for live appearances and for\r\nruining our necks in no time. Bo Summer’s vocals are\r\nequally unique and distinctive, something we really like since that’s one of\r\nthe things that make Illdisposed so special. As hard as I may tried, I\r\ndid not manage to pick a song I liked more. Illdisposed have always been\r\nwell loved by me for that reason since listening to the cd I never had to pick\r\ntracks to listen to and always listened to the whole album as it was. That’s exactly what happens\r\nwith "Prestige" too and I don’t think that it will ever end.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nWe should mention that the\r\nrecordings were done at Fredman Studios, while this album is the first on AFM\r\nRecord’s behalf, after the band’s  break\r\nof contract with Roadrunner. I could write so much more\r\nabout this album but I prefer to end this review simply saying that Illdisposed\r\nare going through one of their best and most interesting periods until this\r\nday. If you’re a fan of the band,\r\nyou know what to do. If you’re not, then just listen to "Prestige".\r\n
