Jennie Tebler's Out Of Oblivion - Till Death Tear Us Part
Jennie Tebler is the sister of the infamous Quorthon. Till Death Tear Us Part is her debut album released by Black Mark Productions, the company run by her father, so as you can figure it’s a family affair! For me personally the fact she is Quorthon’s sister doesn’t say much as it shouldn’t. Everyone has a different way of expressing one self through music. Out Of Oblivion is a band which combines many diverse elements of the extreme sound but the base is on atmospheric and gothic. In the album we listen to very pleasant songs but there are also some which are unbearable. Jennie gives the impression she wants to sound like Crtistina Scabia and partly succeeds in it since they do sound like Lacuna Coil at times. The tracks have a progressive element in them which makes the sound difficult on some level. What I didn’t like about the band was the fact that they might start a song in good intentions and in the process adds useless elements as if they don’t know how to establish a song and end up tiring you. Also there is almost no variety in the riffs. We can trace some nice melodies but for me that’s not enough. Till Death Tear Us Part is quite indifferent as a release, just a time killer. Closing I would like to add a quote from the press release which I found hilarious "You have never heard this before". Sometimes you must know where to draw the line …
