AS MEMORY DIES - Transmutate

Looks like the Italian scene has a plan to expand its musical horizons beyond the borders of epic metal or, more recently, gothic metal. “Transmutate” is the first release of As Memory Dies and is more or less an interesting proposal in the melodic death metal genre. Even though they are serving the genre since 2005 they managed to release their self-financed debut album just recently. The compositions on “Transmutate” are pretty inspired and very well worked. The melodies play the most important role on their music while the constant tempo changes during the songs doesn’t make you feel tired or bored, on the contrary they are very stimulating, keeping you focused on their music. What really captured my attention was Fabio Caruso’s vocals, which being far from special, gives out a tremendous power and feeling on the death growls and the melodic “clean” parts alike making the whole album sound 100% “true” and sincere! The production is in very good levels too, though I would prefer a more massive sound on the guitars, something that the genre requires anyway.
\r\nSo, being not the melodic death metal messiah, for the time being, As Memory Dies, should they be given the chance, have all it takes to make a name for themselves. Check them out.
