MOONSORROW - Tulimyrsky

MOONSORROW - Tulimyrsky

Since we talked about Viking Metal in the previous review, let’s talk about a band that I consider as worthy followers of Bathory’s music, Moonsorrow and their new EP entitled “Tulimyrky” Moonsorrow in this release remains “frozen” and absolutely epic, like their previous five efforts. I believe that Moonsorrow along with Falkenbach are the best students of Quarthon!!!
\r\nThis E.P. features five tracks, amonst them a MAGNIFICENT cover of the classic “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica and also the cover of “Back to The North” originally by Mercilles. Moonsorrow really made these songs unrecognizable. Now as for their own tracks of this EP are really subjects that need to be studied by other bands of the genre. Epic Black metal straight out from the refrigerator and not for the weak. Except their Bathory influences, Moonsorrow also have some Emperor alike roots, that in this release is more obvious than the Bathory ones.
\r\nAlthough this effort is an EP , i recommend this release to all of you that dig some good Epic / Viking black metal especially this time of the season that the summer is upon us and we need something to freeze the things up a little. Worth to mention fact is the guest appearances on vocals by οι Tomi Koivusaari (Amorphis), Oppu Laine (Mannhai) and more.
