Narthex - Flatness of Life

\r\nNarthex is a new Belgian metal band and "Flatness of Life" is their debut album, churning out 11 solid tracks of straightforward death/thrash metal at its best. Excellent thrash riffs, solid from mid-paced to furious drumming, an old-school vibe throughout the album without denying a more modern approach either and a great growled vocal work with a few surprising bloody, evil screams. The compositions are massive, brutal and captivating either with the fast, blistering riffs or with the sludgy breakdowns and the groovy rhythm not to mention the truly competent solos wherever they exist. The rhythmic section (bass/drums) from the other hand is pretty tight and the production gives the entire effort the appropriate force and edge that a release of this genre requires. A truly amazing debut and a splendid work from a band that definitely deserves your attention.\r\n
