Necromantia - The Sound Of Lucifer Storming Heaven
Necromantia - The Sound Of Lucifer Storming Heaven
\r\nNecromantia were (and still are) one\r\nexceptional chapter in the Greek Metal Scene. They were formed back in 1989 and\r\never since they didn’t need to sound like anyone else. All their albums present\r\nsomething different, yet with the common feature of extreme darkness. It’s been\r\n7 years since the band released it’s last album (IV: Malice) and 2007 is the\r\nyear for their next step with "The Sound Of Lucifer Storming Heaven".\r\nThe new album was released through Dockyard 1, the new record\r\nlabel of the band. The new album was recorded with the line up of Magus (Bass /\r\nVocals) with Baron Blood (8 String Bass / Bass Solos) and Fotis Benardo (Drums)\r\nwho create an album both extreme and sick. An atmosphere only Necromantia can\r\ncreate as they are truly unique in their style. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nThe trade mark feature of the band has always been, apart from the style of the music, is the fact\r\nthat instead of using guitars they use bases. Whoever didn’t know that, don’t\r\nbe judgmental before you listen to the effect. "The Sound Of Lucifer\r\nStorming Heaven" is a dark and spooky album, within which the satanic and\r\ndeathlike atmosphere makes its own special setting. There are times that the songs are almost suffocating. The combination of the dark lyrics and Satan’s forces create a repugnant, deranged chaos which unveils a satanic beauty which captures the listener in the magic of Necromantia. Keys have a very important role\r\nin the result. At times they play the main part, other times they just accompany while others they add up a Folk attitude always keeping the same atmosphere of the\r\nband. One pleasant surprise was the fact that Magus’s vocals are still recognizable and far off, whether\r\nthey are clean or brutal. Necromantia don’t\r\nneed well polished guitars, typical blastbeats, or Swedish riffs etc. What they\r\ndo is straight from the heart and whoever likes it goes along. They will stay true\r\nto their style. The production sounds quite\r\nflat but if you like Necromantia’s style you don’t expect to listen to a good\r\nproduction. When you listen to Necromantia it’s because you enjoy the\r\natmosphere and not because you want to listen to catchy riffs. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nNecromantia have managed to maintain their own style throughout the years which has kept them in the Underground scene but\r\nwhoever is into the style knows them, and it is definitely an honor that this\r\nband is Greek. "The Sound Of Lucifer\r\nStorming Heaven" is an album you can\r\neither love or hate. There is no middle way. Personally, I loved it for the hate it seals and I\r\nbelieve this is what will happen when you listen to it too.\r\n
