NICKELBACK - Dark Horse

NICKELBACK - Dark Horse

\r\nNickelback are a band that needs no introduction. I don’t think that there’s anyone out there that haven’t listen to any of their songs, even by chance playing on the radio. Yes they do have Airplay and media promotion but that has nothing to do with the quality of their music in any way.
\r\nWho said that the word “commercial” or “easy-listening” is forbidden among the listeners of this kind of music? Let’s get real. Something that sells thousands or millions of copies doesn’t necessarily mean that is garbage. Let’s not forget that many of us truly respect albums like Bon Jovi’s “Slippery when wet” or Def Leppard’s “Hysteria” (with most of the tracks released as singles). Speaking of which I have to mention that the man responsible for “Dark Horse”s production is Mutt Lange resulting to a more Def Leppard-ish sound (something really cool). As far as the music is concerned is needless to say that these guys have the gift of writing hits in every release. “Dark Horse” doesn’t differ from their multi platinum previews works (something that proves that Nickelback are not an one-track-band, as some want to think, but an inspired one) as it follows the same old recipe. Heartbreaking ballads and powerful hard rock dynamites all packed up with catchy choruses sang by Chad Kroeger’s distinctive voice.
\r\nThe lyrical part here varies from song to song as we have tracks like “Something in your mouth” which could easily be the soundtrack in every strip club (the new Girls Girls Girls maybe…) as it has to do with a stripper’s dance! “Just to get high” is another drug abuse-related track while “Never gonna be alone” and  “Gotta be somebody” are their well known melodic ballads.
\r\nTo conclude, “Dark Horse” is another successful album for Nickelback as well as an album of the finest Hard rock for all of us. If some want to call it “commercial rock” or “FM rock” I don’t think that this concerns anyone and definitely not Nickelback who are proven to be hard working professionals who respect their fans delivering descent albums, the very same moment that some worn out so called “Gods” make use of their name to feed us with garbage.
\r\nFood for thought.
