Nightwish - Imaginaerum

\r\nThe magic music box is wind up and the dark melodies of Nightwish’s “Imaginaerum” are filling the air.
\r\nThis is the band’s 7th studio release and the second with Anette Ozlon on lead vocals since Tarja’s ghost seems to have disappeared. “Imaginaerum” is an album in which Tuomas Holopain (keyboardist and main composer) shows his unlimited talent in composing and performing music. This one is considered to be the soundtrack of an upcoming movie with the same title that would be released during this year. “Imaginaerum” has unique orchestration in all the songs something that makes it sound like a movie score mostly due to the contribution of London Orchestra along with some children choir.
\r\nI would state that “Imaginaerum” is the most variable and mature Nightwish album till now. Here the listener will enjoy a wind range of music from celtic folk touches (“I Want my Tears Back” ) to 30’s classic Jazz (“ Slow Love,Slow” ) in which Annette has an amazing performance giving you the impression that you are actually in a dark cabaret of the last century! At this point I’d like to comment about Annette’s performance that sounds great during the whole album adopting each song (or each character…) with great success and adjusting her vocals depending on the mood of each track. There is also an amazing duet with Hieta on the track “The Crow, The Owl and The Dove” and it seems that Annette has found her position in the band since the whole album (and her performance) sounds far better that “Dark Passion Play”. Of course there are some catchy tracks like the single “Storytime” and “I Want my Tears Back” but as a whole the album sounds fantastic!
\r\nConcluding I’d like to say that “Imaginaerum” is a great nightwish album with some fresh influences that would satisfy any fan of the band as well as all those who are not stuck to Tarja’s presence! The heart of Nightwish is Mr. Tuomas Holopainen and not Tarja! Those who understand that will enjoy a magical masterpiece!\r\n
