ODIOUS - Mirror of Vibrations

ODIOUS - Mirror of Vibrations

\r\nOdious is a quintet based in Alexandria, Egypt. "Mirror Of Vibrations" is the title of the album and the sound delivers something that we could  simply describe as African black metal moulded with oriental influences. The Intro which opens the cd is a beautiful and calm composition built upon the sound of a classic guitar which initially enters and later on supplemented by an Oud, an Egyptian instrument, that in Arabics means thin wood, and which is an embellished wooden organ with six double strings. Very beautiful sound, almost romantic, even though the music of Odious could be characterized nothing  but romantic. The next piece "Poems Hidden Being Black Walls" even though it also begins with a peculiar disposal, the double bass attack that follows, the enchanting keys and  the amazing riffage give the first genuine filings on the music of Odious. My first contact with oriental metal had taken place back with Melechesch and I can say that Odious gained my interest with the same convenience. The entire album exudes of an amazing atmosphere based so much on the exotic reports as much as some dark and fast black metal that enthrals. Melodic guitars that offer generously one riff after the other, technical drums that pound generously and some more than interesting vocals that can extend from high-pitched shrieks to low-pitched growls. All that placed with order and harmony. Aggressiveness but also a more intricate way of implementation. Catchy melodies, lots of rhythm shifts, beautiful breaks in the guitar scales, everything injected by seductive musical extensions of a more traditional prospect. And what’s the good thing about this album. All this exotic, cultural diversion is so much faultless incorporated that the album’s sovereign menacing framework manages successfully to maintain it’s fiery and vicious stride of thunderous black metal. The compositions are skilfully captivating granting doses of  blackened, relentless pace along with ethnic interfusions under such an effective use that the sound comes up crafted with the same eloquence. A damn fine work from a group that surely overflows from good ideas and native talent.\r\n
