Pagan Altar - Mythical And Magical (DLP Re-release)
Pagan Altar - Mythical And Magical (DLP Re-release)
\r\nMy Happiness can’t be described and the reason is that just reached me the re release of the second Pagan Altar album on Vinyl. This is the second full length excluding their first historical demo that have been re released several times as “Pagan Altar”, Vol. 1” and a couple of titles more. The “Mythical and Magical” album originally released in 2006 but a couple of days before Misckatonic foundation re released it on a double LP with a bonus track. So due too the fact that there is not any review about the album prior to this, I decided to upload this review now.
\r\nPagan Altar is one of the living legends of N.W.O.B.H.M. scene, and one of the few bands that deserves to be considered as obscure. Despite the fact that the band is a N.W.O.B.H.M. band with only three releases founded and supported the whole doom metal scene (If you still believe that Sallow The Sun and Anathema is Doom metal, change your mind before it’s too late.)
\r\nBut on with the album now, which features twelve tracks written between 1977 and 1983. Despite the fact that the album has been recorded through 2006 the 70’s feeling is very strong. The great voice or mr. Terry Jones (his majesty) is still great and very expressive while his son spreads really great riffs around. The album owns dark lyricism as always and many parts that could easily fit in some released by Rainbow and Jethro Tull (of the 70’s).
\r\nEpic musical pieces like “Cry of the Banshee”, “Demons Of The Night”, “Flight Of The Witch Queen” “Erl King” “Witches Pathway” will always shine and show the way to Heavy and Doom Metal even to the generations to come. I still wonder how this band can with only three releases to be such an inspiration to all of us.
\r\nWords are loss Of Time…. DIG IT NOW!!!!!
