Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One

\r\nBefore writing my opinion about the new Pain Of Salvation album, I had to honestly answer to a very essential question: if it wasn’t theirs, would I still like it? Well, the answer was positive, so I proceeded in writing down my thoughts about Road Salt One.
\r\nFirst off, let’s be clear so to avoid any misunderstandings. POS do not aim at Metal fans with this album. In fact, they don’t aim to some audience in particular.
\r\nAs usual, they are unpredictable once more, this time, though, by making such a subversive album. It’s not an innovative album or anything; it’s just that POS are in a totally different field now.
\r\nAccording to Daniel, it’s a concept album. However, there’s no connection between the songs and probably it will take lots of times listening to the to them in order to get the point. Composing wise, there’s lack of cohesion. One song is groovy and the next one is devastating and depressing. Songs like “Sisters”, “Of Dust”, “Where It Hurts”, “Road Salt One” make you realize why this band is so big. In other words, if POS are in an absolutely different field musically, Daniel’s performance is beyond perception. It’s more than exceptional and imposing.
\r\nIn conclusion, after estimating all parties, I don’t care at all about the music style of this album rather than the fact that it pulls me like a magnet a bit more every time I listen to it. And that is enough for me.  \r\n
