THE PROWLERS - Re-evolution

THE PROWLERS - Re-evolution

Truth is that “The Prowlers”, though I never heard of them, is not another new band from Italy. Being on the scene since 1996 they have released 2 full length albums “Soul Thieves” (2003) and “Devil’s Blade” (2005). “Re-evolution” is their new release and no matter how bad they want to be categorized as a “progressive metal” band, one could easily label them as typical “Heavy/power metal”.
\r\nMusically things seem to be a little bit strange for the fellow Italians since their compositions are sounding kind of “out of place”. For example after an ultra-atmospheric intro with Martina Pelasi’s mesmerizing vocals (she is a guest musician to this album) and just after the familiar/fetish phone ringing (seriously, what’s with the ringing phones in prog metal albums anyway?) follows a typical power metal song “Red Smoke” and after that, as the album unfolds, some progressive elements are surfacing based mostly on keyboard parts, and the musical landscape is changing again. The songs themselves without being something groundbreaking are sounding pleasant to your ear while there are some songs like “Your Conscience” (where Fabio Minchillo’s singing resembles a lot that of Bruce Dickinson’s) and “The Profession part I Home” really manage to stand out. The production is in very good levels and the sound will remind you of bands like Evergrey or even Angeldust!
\r\nGenerally I wouldn’t state that “Re-evolution” is an average album, but I thing that “The Prowlers” have not exactly reached their peek with this one. They are surely capable for more. The next one maybe…
