The Puritan - The Black Law
The Idiom “Better Late Than Never” seems to fit perfectly in this case. The reason is that despite the fact that this 12’’ has been released on 14 February 2008, I only managed to have my copy, a couple of days ago (thanks to E –Bay once again). But since many of us seems to dig the doom metal scene, I feel that despite the fact that this review is late, would be useful to some readers.
\r\nSo, The Puritan is the name of another side project of Sami Hynninen widely known as Sir Alber Witchfinder (Vocals, Bass Guitar on Reverend Bizarre and The Orne). The Black Law is the second release from the Finnish outfit but sounds slightly different than the Reverend Bizarre releases, or just to be more accurate, sounds close to the very first Reverend Bizarre Demos. Extremely down tempo doom metal with a great dark atmosphere close to Burzum and in particular close to “Hviss Lysster Tar Oss” album, but the whole musical result can be described only as doom metal. The misanthropic essence is abvious and the EP can be listened very easy but only for those that are familiar to Slow Doom metal (One Riff one song) and in this case “Burzum’s monotony”
\r\nThrought the total running time of 32’ of the EP we take a journey throught burzum’s psychedelic approach of music to slow monolithic vibes of Reverend Bizarre. If you can stand this just “hit” that one.
