Queensryche - American Soldier

Queensryche - American Soldier

\r\nI will be honest. I didn’t want to review this album at first place. I thought I’d rather pass it by pretending it was never released. The next thought was “why should I waste my time writing about this one while there are so many bands out there worth listening?” so I left it behind trying to overlook it. But enough is enough and my patience has just ran out.
\r\nBy turning a blind eye we don’t make things better. There are enough shit happening in today’s society just because we chose look the other way and not to talk about what’s bothering us. Well the time has come to see things as they really are. When a band needs five years to release a decent album, we usually talk bout lack of inspiration (it’s ok, it can happen to anyone). In ten years we realize that something’s wrong. In fifteen years either the band is simply WASTED and they just don’t know it yet, or worse they are aware of that and they are simply making a mockery of their fans feeding them with garbage.
\r\nI don’t know which of the two cases applies to Queensryche but i don’t think they have a reason to exist as a band.
\r\nAfter the controversial “Promised Land” in 1994 they are releasing one disaster after another. We’ve been kicked by the unacceptable “Hear in the now frontier”,
\r\nWe surpassed the revolting “Q2K”, we tolerated the repulsive “Tribe”, we swallowed the blasphemous ( due to its title) “Operation:Mindcrime 2” and while everyone thought that things can’t go worse…comes the “American Soldier” to prove us all wrong.
\r\nI don’t know where to begin. From the wretched artwork? The hilarious concept? (Tate interviewed American mercenaries – professional killers to be exact – who regretfully share their experiences in the battlefield and talk about the horrors of war. Horrors that THEY THEMSELVES have created). As for the compositions they are nothing but a blur of uninspired modern rock with a supposed progressive touch. HOW STUPID THEY THINK WE ARE?
\r\nI mean, ok we respect their past and their releases until 1994 but they can’t always hide behind it. I won’t bother suggesting the disband of the group (that should have happened a long time ago) but if, after this one, is still anyone out there who will keep on supporting them, well he’s asking for it.
\r\nYou have been warned.\r\n
