RAVAGE - THE END OF TOMORROW

RAVAGE - THE END OF TOMORROW

\r\nAfter numerous of gigs, Ep’s and bootlegs and thirteen years after their original formation, Ravage release their first full-length album with the aim of bringing old-school heavy metal back to prominence.  However, they manage to make a tribute album to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Testament and Kreator. On the whole, this album can be described as very good work of pure, old school heavy metal which will appeal on both old and new fans of this music genre combining both European and Us elements in their work from the beginning of NWOBHM to late 80’s thrash metal and up to late 90’s European power metal.

\r\nAfter a very notable instrumental beginning with “The Halls Of Madness”, Ravage continue their metal journey with Reign Fall (where they make a tribute to legendary “Running Wild”), Freedom Fighter and The Shredder which are, by far, the most memorable parts of this album.  However, on some parts, there is lack of inspiration that the band will have to deal with in the future as this album, on my opinion, could also be even better if it was shorter on duration without two or three songs. Also, notable is the epic “The End Of Tomorrow” which finishes this album.
\r\n
\r\nAn also memorable part is the Judas Priest’s cover of “Nightcrawler” which doesn’t open new paths for the band as it is an exact copy of the original song. Maybe Ravage wanted to fulfill their childhood dreams of playing Judas Priest songs in their music career. Yet, this cover can show us the vocal talent of Al Ravage who can be a serious advantage of this band on their road to success.

\r\nFinally, another notable part is the production of Peter Rutcho whose work has given the band the power and roughness that they want to give to their music. Also, the band secured the talent of Ed Repka for their cover, an artist well known for his works with Megadeth and Death. On the whole, Ravage manage to take out pure heavy metal. A good solid album which they will have to work on, especially their weaknesses, if they want to progress any further in heavy metal world. They seem to have the talent and the thirst for it but they will have to prove it to the world. \r\n
