Razor's Edge - Royal Hate

Razor's Edge - Royal Hate

\r\n Ι’ve known Razor’s Edge’s music for some time now and I’m very pleased to see a change in their musical point of view. Dimitri’s addition to the band’s vocal position helped a lot. The act comes forth with fresh material and the will to show the world a new face. If and what they succeeded is a subjective matter. Groovy thrashcore with brutality shots? Call it what you will.

\r\n In my opinion their effort is big and quite difficult. Razor’s Edge always had the groovy element in their tunes. Also, lots of thrashy parts but also the newcomer breakdowns(without them becoming repeatitive) become the band’s new trademark, fresh and all new. The vocalist’s brutal growls are very good, influenced by Despised Icon and such monsters, but on his more open style is where I get undecided.  While he is the one that gives R.E. that extra something they need I believe he could give a bit more to boost things further ahead. This EP is a scouter for the band. A first step through which they try to work things out and try to find a new means of expression. And this can only be a good thing. The songs included in here, offer variety, lots of breaks, pauses and interesting ideas. The breakdowns followed by Dimitri’s kick ass growls sound massive. I just believe their thrashier parts could slowly be put aside because the groove thingy seems more fitting, at least to my ears.

\r\n The sound is quite clear, though it could have a better result in the final mixing in my opinion. The artwork is done my the guys themselves, the work done to present the cd is remarkable. Do not hesitate to give it time and lots of listening sessions. I’m sure this band’s next step is going to be of vital importance to them.\r\n
