Remembrance - Silencing The Moments

\r\nWhen you see the word Firebox on a new release, when you see few long tracks and when you see such an artwork, you should know exactly what to expect. So Remembrance didn’t take us by surprise and present exactly what we had guessed, and that is Funeral Doom Metal to death. The band comes from France and this is their second full-length album. Unfortunatelly I haven’t heard their previous work and so I can’t say my opinion but there is high possibility thing aren’t very different. It’s a fact that bands like this one don’t easily change their style. Silencing The Moments is a typical Funeral Doom album. Those who are into this genre know what I mean. On the other hand those who don’t, it would be better if they have an open-minded taste and listen to this album. Me, as I used to listen to loads of Doom Metal, I easily absorbed it and actually I found it pretty interesting compared to the other new releases I’ve heard lately. Slow like the creeping death, dark like the most cold and unreachable night, gloomy at the point of depression and atmospheric so that it can take us away are some frases in which the music of Silencing The Moments reflects. It is true that the 6 tracks of the album sound almost the same and some of the riffs we listen to one song are similar to those in another one. But things aren’t exactly like that and someone with an experienced ear can tell the difference. The main attraction of the album are the heavy and slow riffs while vocals give their own resital in this gasping and paranoid result. Keyboards make thing better and enrich the songs creating ambient atmospheres, while the drums are slow like a tormentative (as usual). We should say that vocals are mainly brutal like those of Shape of Despair but there are some female vocals here and there that enrich the songs and also many times we here narrattions etc. Everything a similar album would contain exist here. It is true that not everyone can listen to Funeral Doom Metal. For many is really boring and unnecessary, but for others is a piece of their heart. For the second group of people Silencing The Moments is highly recommended. \r\n
