ROT - The Time Has Come
ROT - The Time Has Come
\r\nThe time has come, indeed. With only one member from the original line-up (Buttons), ROT is back in the music industry with a killer album. The vocals that remind of (I underline this, they only remind of) Nick Holmes, Phil Anselmo and Eddie Vedder (insert many wows here) and the music direction that varies very much is what features their music mostly. They have so many elements from so many musical scenes that they really intrigue you as you can’t predict what the next song will sound like. Intense Grunge attitude, heavy sound, with a slight southern feeling mostly on vocals, other times more dark, other times more prog, they are emotional and aggressive at the same time, they are very melodic, groovy, they have many atmospheric parts and straight to your face outbursts..However they don’t belong to the bands that play whatever comes to mind just to sound different. They have a very personal musical style and coherence in their ideas. The compositions are absolutely tight and the album is just “delicious” till the last moment, I liked a lot the unexpected addition of a traditional Greek song called “The Path” in a superb approach/instrumentation which gives you wonderful visions. The only minus has to do with the production which could be a little better in my opinion.
\r\nTalking is cheap in this case. These guys can just “fuddle” you with all these colors in their music. Having positive energy is a very important thing. Being able to infect others too, is a charisma. I think that this scene has many hidden treasures. \r\n
