Rott - Out of Time
OH MY DEAR GOD!! Why did I choose to do that? When I first got into the MetalZone team, they told me to use my sound-engineering experience in my reviews, I thought though that my opinion about production stuff, arrangements, etc shouldn’t matter that much, there are bands that can’t afford the cost of a decent production, so I should just say my opinion about the songwriting, the effort taken about a proper artwork, in general all these elements that if the circumstances were appropriate, they would make music sound good or not, would make a release stand out or not.. With these guys though, I can’t! Being as honest as I can get, this is one of the worst examples of really bad, BAD work as regards the whole process of the creation, having in mind that Rott wanted this to be a good release, judging from the artwork, the CD was in a nice digipack, seeming to be a good work by the first sight… The whole stuff, except its unacceptable sound (the mixing at some point and mastering), seems like it was recorded and mixed (the other point left from above) within, let’s say, three days or so… Drumming is often out of tempo (is this from what the title was inspired by?:P), vocals are everywhere but the correct place, don’t make me speak about the effects used here and there, oh dear God, once again… If, at least I had to deal with nice ideas, I would forget everything about production, but the whole thing is boring to death, except of sometimes that turns into a joke! How did these vocals passed the final audition before the CD was out there? I didn’t think that I would ever become so cruel, and I feel sorry about that, especially now that these folks, well actually a folk, a beloved lady and some others (including a Greek guy with the same name as a teacher I had) seem so nice over the “Thanks” part of the CD… I m really sorry, my apologies to everyone I have insulted with this selfish tone of mine, but there are so many talented people out there, the others may need some encouragement in order to give up, or at least have their music for a much more personal use.. I’ m really sorry, but “Oh My Dear GOD!!”..
