Satyricon - The Age Of Nero
\r\nSatyricon is surely a familiar name among the blacksters, and this cult image and the legend around their name didn’t came by chance, since they are considered of the pioneers of Norwegian black metal. Two years after the release of the excellent “Now Diabolical” Satyricon return to wreck havoc with this release.
\r\nThis album contains 8 anthems of pure Norwegian black metal. No long lasting epic intros, no fake atmospheres and the excessive use of keyboards. Just the haunting riffs and the macabre vocals of Satyr followed by the thundering Frost’s drumming are more than enough to create the darkest and coldest atmosphere. The kind of atmosphere that other bands, despite the extreme outfit, all this corpse painting and the thousands of samples cannot even dream of.
\r\nBesides darkness comes from within our souls, not from the music industry and their marketing tricks. Satyricon are here to prove that.
\r\n“Age of Nero” is musically darker and more gruesome than its predecessor something that partially is due to the concept. Other than that, this is just another Satyricon release. Nothing less, nothing more ( who wants more anyway?)
\r\nBesides if there is a band that needs to prove its worth on the black metal scene, this band are definitely not Satyricon. \r\n
