Shatter Messiah - God Burns Like Flesh
\r\nAs many of you already know Curran Murphy used to be a guitarist of both Nevermore and Annihilator but at some point in 2005 he decided to built his own project by the name Shatter Messiah. In 2006 Shatter Messiah released their first effort ‘Never To Play The Servant’ and a year after they return with their second album, "God Burns Like Flesh". If you know them already from last year’s release then you are very familiar with their thrash-like power metal in the vein of Nevermore and Annihilator. The music is defined by the US power metal blended with dynamic lickings of a thrash metal riffage and lots of classic heavy metal elements and all that directed with a modern production. Their sound is really powerful, the performances full of energy and variation with striking riffs and vivid solos and with double bass and a couple of blastbeats that all converge at a truly interesting output. The only problem is that their resemblance to Nevermore or Annihilator is so obviously adopted that any good ideas are subsided by this fact alone. Even the singer gets so similar to Warrel Dane’s tincture at times that makes the whole effort more of a copy cut than an independent musical artifact. And that’s sad because they seem to have all the background for something more original and unique.\r\n
