Transcending Bizarre? - The Serpent's Manifolds
\r\nAlmost a year ago, I received an amazing project from Salonica coming from the band Synesthesia. Now, I’m also happy to review another great project from Salonica coming from another band this time, Transcending Bizarre?. The group was founded in 2000 and up till now has released two full-lengh albums(this last one included). I wouldn’t be interested so much in presenting biografical info as you can look them up at the band’s site, but I prefer get right to the point and try to describe in plain words what felt like listening to The Serpent’s Manifolds. First and foremost we should say the the band plays Black Metal but there are plenty of Death Metal, Symphonic and Progressive elements. So it was more than expected for me to get interested in them only because they try to experiment and further more their result is great. The songs of the album are melodic, dark, atmospheric but most importantly of great quality. Excellent and professional production is one of their characteristics, while they have their own personal style that makes Transcending Bizzare? music different and special. At some points they remind of Dimmu Borgir and that becomes more obvious when keyboards get at their peak Transcending Bizzare? music has many keyboards that fit perfectly to rest instruments without exagerations. From then on, heavy rythm guitars become the main attraction and in combination with amazing vocals (exclusively brutal) they create a chaotic and unique result that makes the listener get lost in Transcending Bizzare? variety of sounds. Speed is really high without that meaning that the band looses their ability if creating nice melodies. The basic element of the band from Salonica is melody and the thing I am really fond of is the amazing balance between melodic keyboard and guitar parts. It wouldn’t be fair not to mention how technical the songs are, as the rythm changes are more than often and generally the whole mentality of the group directs to something progressive without getting tiring. The atmosphere the band creates is unique and can take our minds of the dull everyday life at least for a while and also gives the impression that we have to do with something warm and familiar, something that means a lot to me. The Serpent’s Manifolds is a theatrical album caracterized by power, energy and of course quality. Projects like this one are rare in Greece and fortunately there are still some people putting their soul to their music and present something so beautiful and unique. I don;t have anything left to say. I bow in awe...\r\n
