The Wandering Midget - The Serpent Coven

The Wandering Midget - The Serpent Coven

At last, the first full length release by the Finnish doom metal outfit The Wandering Midget is here, the band impressed us with the their demos “First Encounter” and “I Am The Gate” last year and now have returned to shut many mouths up with this traditional, occult doom metal that they play.
\r\nThe Album, “Serpent Coven” features 6 tracks with total running time about 54 minutes, with torturing rhythm section, down tempo with many up tempo breaks, awesome, paranoid vocals and lyrical themes such as occultism, references to H.P. Lovecraft and in general horror.
\r\nAlmost all of their compositions are over 8 minutes long with the longest track about 14 minutes, with many variations on their themes, many melodic lines and extremely good riffing.
\r\nSo, the things are clear in such a situation, having in mind that the ultimate Finnish Doomsters are dead (Reverend Bizarre) and Wandering Midget sounds on purpose so close to them, W.M. claims the throne of Reverend Bizarre and to be honest, with such releases as“The Serpent Coven” they deserve it and I hope that soon they will have it. No more thing need to be said, the album is out from Eyes Like Snow on CD, Die Hard LP with patch and T-shirt and on Regular LP.
\r\nMy humble opinion is that if you don’t get that piece of wax, you won’t  be able to enjoy one of the best LP’s  of 2008, as for Wandering Midget , I really hope that will keep on playing this way, because doom metal scene has a great need of such bands and albums.
