\r\nDomenik recently released his solo album under the title “Ego Integrity” which is his first solo effort after Wastefall splitting up. Metalzone took the chance to ask him a few questions about it and here’s what he told us. \r\n

\r\nMetalzone: First of all, welcome to Metalzone. Your first solo album is ready, so let’s talk about it.. You are behind the compositions and all the music as well. How did that come and how difficult was it to work on the album all by yourself?
\r\nDomenik: My best regards to Metalzone! It is not difficult to work all by myself. That way everything will be exactly as I want but I would prefer to have some official members and do this all together but it didn’t happen…
\r\nMetalzone: Did you try to approach other musicians?
\r\nDomenik: Yes I did. But with no success as every musician I knew was really busy around this area.( Köln Germany). But I have many musicians who can help as session musicians for the upcoming gigs I suppose.
\r\nMetalzone: Tell us a few things about the writing of the album. The lyrics, the music. What inspires you?
\r\nDomenik: The lyrics as you noticed are simple and I try to reach a Poetic form as much as I can. All the songs are images and memories of a normal Human being… At least as how I imagine how humanity should be today… Also I try to ‘push’ their minds a bit with songs like Real Eyes and Never Away…
\r\nMetalzone: When and how did the whole idea started?
\r\nDomenik: The idea started since one year ago. Just for myself without having any other goals.
\r\nMetalzone: You decided to give the album for free downloading via your myspace for a while. However, I suppose you had some proposals.
\r\nDomenik: Yes I had many proposals and I still have more now…LOL! But they are not the kind of Label I m interestied in… I believe that now a band needs only gigs to promote it s music. And to be honest I don t like Labels anyway.. I have seen enough…
\r\nMetalzone: What’s the feedback so far?
\r\nDomenik: Really impressive I must say! I only promote this album via myspace and a few ezines and I count now 1880 downloads since 3 weeks. For me it is really amazing and I feel really thankful already.
\r\nMetalzone: Speaking of free downloading, what’s your opinion on that?
\r\nDomenik: I will be bad now for some people… My opinion is that the music album should be free for anyone today… Then you will ask, but how the musicians will feed their children? I will answer they can get enough money from the tour and some merchandise. I can’t find fair the Label system as it is now and MUSIC should STOP to be treated as a PRODUCT!
\r\nMetalzone: How would you describe your music?
\r\nDomenik: That ‘s a difficult question… I would say progressive rock as I don t have so many heavy riffs this time.. J
\r\nMetalzone: Progressive Metal; It’s a pretty complicated story as most of the times the use of these words is only for promotional reasons. What’s your definition on it?
\r\nDomenik: You are right. For me it Progressive is a definition of making something special and without thinking about ‘how should I make this song’ in general. Just let it flow… Consider what you want to say if so and do it. This is a Progress if you consider how popular music is today…
\r\nMetalzone: I can’t avoid asking about Wastefall. There’s some “veil” covering the whole thing with the band splitting up. I mean there was just an announcement, which I got to tell you, was very disappointing. Would you like to talk to us a bit more about it?
\r\nDomenik: The announcement is true but not complete… The only thing I can say is that you never know how things will turn… J
\r\nMetalzone: Do you keep in touch with any of the other guys?
\r\nDomenik: Yes I do… Everyone is busy but fine…
\r\nMetalzone: Do you have any other activities besides this project?
\r\nDomenik: The problem is that I have many activities at the time…
\r\nI have to help my friend Andi Ballnus(Paul Di Anno-Betty True) to finish his album Philosophobia which I am the singer as well. Also I am making professional Videos and 3d animation projects and I have a lot to learn to reach the level I want. Although I will shoot 3-4 videos the next months.. \r\n

\r\nMetalzone: Are you thinking of keeping Ego Integrity as a one-man band in the future?
\r\nDomenik: I am not planning anything yet. I prefer a nice ‘friends team’ in the next album but if not then..’Lucky me…’
\r\nMetalzone: What are your next plans to promote the album?
\r\nDomenik: Playing outside the Cologne’s Cathedral with my 2 string acoustic guitar is my next plan… If this will not work I will dance somewhere in public…
\r\nMetalzone: You are saying on your myspace that what you want is people to understand the idea behind the album. Will you give us a hint?
\r\nDomenik: ’’One lie I need for History
