TRISTANIA - Mariangela & Osten

With the opportunity of Tristania’s appearance at March Metal Day festival, Metalzone’s Terry Nikas and Lampros Tennes interviewed both the singers of the Norwegian multidimensional band, the Italian newly arrived singer, Mariangela Demurtas and Osten Bergoy. In a very crucial period for Tristania, where the departure of their original (and for about 10 years) singer Vibeke Stene stirred many questions about the future of the band, Osten explains how the replacement will help them evolve, without altering the band’s established musical  character. On the other hand, Mariangela states that she will introduce her personal style to the band, without trying to imitate her predecessor.

\r\nThey talk about their plans regarding their next album, and how important that is, in order to relate Mariangela to the band soon enough, and how the whole replacement situation affected their touring plans for the support of ‘Illumination’. Osten discusses the situation with the female fronted bands, and their point of view on this ‘trend’, and reveals the way Tristania work on their music.

\r\nMariangela talked about the co-existence of her hot, Mediterranean temperament with the more conservative Northern Europeans, and they both explain the situation with founding member -and keyboard player- Einar Moen. Finally, they shared with us their personal music preferences and they didn’t hide their excitement for their first ever appearance in Greece.
