Ismini - Black Swan
\r\nGreek scene nowadays has being improved. Many bands present us completed works and this is very pleasant, as most of them are appreciable. Black Swan is the debut of album of a new band, which brings the name Ismini and I admit that it confused me a little. Initially, I would like to say my opinion regarding the name and in order to be sincere I didn’t like it, because it is very simple, but also because such kind of names are not very usual in the hard sound. This however is something that has to do with the band and as they do not have problem with this, it doesn’t matter. It deserves in any case to mention that this name was taken from the front woman of the group, Ismene Sakelaropoulou who is also known from the Gothic band, Faded Hopes. For the most serious point, which is no other than the music, the result is that The Black Swan, is interesting on one hand, but on the other there are parts that made me tired regarding the compositions. In this point I would like to report something that made me impression and this is that Vangelis Gialamas has written the music of the album, but judging from the pictures and line up of the band, he has not taken part in the tracks, as there are other musicians that consists the band. If we overlook this, what we hear in Black Swan are 10 Atmospheric/Symphonic tracks, which however hide a big dose of Progressive Metal. Melodies is the strong characteristic of the band, and also we must mention that the band has all the abilities to create something catchy and easy in the listening. Beautiful additions of the piano and the violin, enriches more the already pretty atmosphere, but also do songs more interesting. The –in my opinion- negative point is the fact that the tracks is something that we have already listen to them previously from others and personally didn’t make me any sense. I recognize that the band has talent and can introduce us beautiful songs, but what we have here do not escape from the creator’s influences and there is no originality. If we overlook this, we find 10 songs which are nice in the listening and help us to spend our time pleasantly. Apart from this, I cannot find a deeper meaning in the music of Ismini. If you are fond of Atmospheric situations, check out Ismini and maybe you will find something deeper. \r\n
