Facebreaker - Dead, Rotten And Hungry
\r\nThis is the second full-length album by Swedish death metallers Facebreaker and with a few words this is nothing more than old school Swedish fucking death metal but with a more modern production. The songs are mostly from speedy thrash driven to mid-tempo and of course killer sluggish groovy parts in the Grave-like tradition. The guitars are downtuned yet razor sharp dominating the entire 11-track output. Short in their duration they manage to keep a certain variation with lots of well measured tempo changes. Corruptive, dirty riffs set to contaminate the ears of the listener and pummeling drums that bring a nice mix of double-bass fueled brutality and short, rythmic slow parts under the pure Swedish death chugging. The whole album stenches a galloping and intense feast of old-school style death metal perfect for nothing more than a merciless, unceasing headbangable orgy. The sound is foul and heavily thick and on top of that the extremely snarling death vocals by Roberth Karlsson (ex-Edge Of Sanity and member of Pan.Thy.Monium). This guy surely knows how to abuse his throat delivering some of the most bloody and ultra menacing growling stuff today. \r\n

\r\nAlthough some tracks stand way above the others ("Dead, Rotten And Hungry"- totally snap-necking and with a tremendous rhythm, "Unanimated Flesh" and "Soul Eater") and that’s why my final rating isn’t higher but surely the whole effort is being reckoned as a totally solid and damn good release of a decent, well accomplished and unrelenting death metal assault. Fans of Dismember and Grave’s corruptive, auditory dissonance be sure to check out those Swedish death metal bludgeoners. \r\n
